Canopy Tours

Want to swing like Tarzan on a Magaliesberg Canopy Tour?

You can do so in safety for approximately R450 on a 2 ½ hour canopy tour through the Ysterhout Kloof situated between Magaliesburg and Hartbeespoort Dam. Bookings are essential.

What happens on a canopy tour?

A Magaliesberg Canopy Tour guide will greet you at your car and help you to become correctly kitted up in well-used safety gear. Wear stout, comfortable clothing that will enable you to move freely on the zip-lines and when boarding the open-air 4x4 vehicle that will transport you to and from the Kloof. Your every move will be recorded on a souvenier DVD included in the tour price.

During the tour you will traverse between eleven platforms situated against the rock face around 30 metres above the stream through the kloof. The slides between platforms are up to 140m long and a serious challenge to people with vertigo, who can ask to be helped down to ground level and escorted on an easy hike through the kloof. Guides stand ready to assist everyone to land safely at each platform. They then use the environment of each platform to provide interesting facts about the Magaliesberg’s ecology, fauna, flora and birds.

And afterwards?

After the tour, Sparkling Waters Hotel provides an idyllic setting for enjoying the included refreshments. It has a huge outdoor pool for a swim to wash away the dust and sweat accumulated during this great life-experience.

And if you want to keep on swinging...

Don’t cross canopy tours off your bucket list when you have done this one. As you travel through South Africa, look out for the Canopy Tours available in Tsitsikamma Forest at Storms River Village in the Eastern Cape, Magoebaskloof in Limpopo Province, the Central Drakensberg Region, Karkloof in KZN Midlands and Malolotja Nature Reserve in Swaziland.

There is also a zip-line adventure available on the other side of Hartbeespoort Dam, but both of our guest groups that set out for AmaZingZing stopped off en route to enjoy other places that caught their attention and never got to their intended destination. It happens! We would welcome feedback from people who use their SATNAV or Garmin and actually find this venue!
